‘Free’ Phone a Community Friend service

The Kent Equality Cohesion Council have over the past couple of weeks been working with DBC and voluntary sector partners to help tackle some of the issues which have arisen as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.  One of the key issues highlighted locally has been the sense of isolation and acute loneliness experienced by many who are cut off from friends and family.   As a result of this, KECC and Cohesion Plus have launched the ‘Phone a Community Friend’ scheme.  The free phone service offers individuals a chance to have a friendly chat with a likeminded, local people.

Currently to access the service, people will simply need to visit http://www.kentecc.org.uk/phone-a-community-friend/ and complete the short, easy form.  A volunteer will aim to be in touch within 24 hours.

Assistance initiative
We are going through an unprecedented time as a community with the spread of the Covid-19.  It is during this critical time that vulnerable members of our communities will need our support the most.  We are pleased to be supporting the local initiative led by Dartford Borough Council.   The Dartford Together Initiative aims to help the most vulnerable individuals in the local community over the coming weeks.  If you or someone you know can help and support where possible please complete the link below.
I believe we as a community need to come together in a safe and responsible way so that our elderly, less able and isolated neighbours aren’t impacted in a negative way during this difficult time.  As such, I urge you to take a look at the link above and look at how you can be of service during what will be a trying time for everyone.  Please feel free to share this link with any partners that you feel will be able to contribute towards this vital initiative.
I hope you take care and stay safe.
Best wishes,

Bonfires & Corona Virus out break

Please can we ask all Parish residents to be mindful of persons with breathing problems during the outbreak of Cov-19 aka Corona Virus.

This also applies to the use of bonfires on our allotments. People with breathing problems are at extra risk from the virus and smoke from bonfires could exacerbate this problem.
